Waitrose Light and Creamy Cheesecake

Clive: Wow, this Waitrose lemon cheesecake is really deep!

Joe: Wow, what happened on top of that one?! It looks like they just picked up and packaged a bit of yellow snow.

Harry: It’s just a big yellow splat on top of it.

Alex: This is a Waitrose light and creamy lemon cheesecake, so it’s our second lemon cheesecake today and—Joe why are you stroking the cheesecake?

Joe: Ooo. Ooo! This is very soft. And creamy.

Rich: This has 240 calories, 13.6g of fat and only – well, I say ‘only’ – 15g of sugar. That’s per sixth.

Clive: Quite a healthy option then, as cheesecakes go.

Alex: Almost like eating some oranges or lemons or something.

Joe ate pretty much all of this one on his own

Joe: The top of this is really soft, like molten marshmallows or something, but the base is really tough. Oh, wow. It tastes more like a flan.

Clive: Mmm. Really light and fluffy.

Joe: I’ll have some more of that, definitely.

Harry: The base is armour plated though.

Alex: Fair play to Waitrose. They said this would be light and creamy and it is light and creamy.

Joe: It’s mostly bubbles. That’s my favourite so far.

Rich: It’s an aero-cheesecake.

Want to make a cheesecake of your own? Here's our favourite recipe

Clive: The lemon is tangy and nice, but it’s not overpowering.

Joe: It’s certainly the one we’re eating the most.

Harry: It really is like a lemon meringue cheesecake. It holds together too and the base, while tough, holds together really well. Once you’ve got your bit of the base out then it sits on your fork quite easily and nicely.

Rich: The thing is though; how would you take this out of the package and actually serve it to people without it falling apart?

Harry: With a spade.

Alex: You’d have to keep it quite cold. We’ve had it down here in the hot PC labs for about half an hour or so.

Harry: It looks like it’s got snot on it.

Joe: Oh, the layers of the topping are horrible. Look at it. It’s all sloughing off.

Rich: Joe! Stop playing with your food!

Joe: I want more! Just not any of this yellow stuff. I just want the flavour, none of the bulk. I’m trying to nudge the calories to one side of the plate.
